Wall murals are a common form of decoration in rural and urban areas. We see wall paintings and murals as a part of our traditional crafts as well as urban architecture. They can be in any medium; cement, color, wood, plaster, tiles, etc.

This is a workshop especially designed keeping in mind the segment of students who are keen on art and design; and require exposure to various subjects related to the field. Here students will get the opportunity to learn various techniques related to designing and executing a mural. They will start with a basic concept, then study composition and aesthetics as well. Moreover, there will be exposure to various mediums and their characteristics.

We shall offer four mediums to explore:

  1. Plaster of Paris
  2. Cement
  3. Foam sheet
  4. Clay

Each one will create a unique mix media mural as take away from this workshop. The size of the mural will be about 24 inches x 24 inches. The 10 day workshop aims at giving the participant a well-rounded understanding of skill, techniques as well as aesthetics; while remaining basic in nature and easy to understand.

Please note that students do not need to bring any materials along with them. All the materials required for the course will be provided by Summer Winter School.
