Affordable Housing, a practitioners perspective

Affordable housing is one of the biggest challenges across the world. Economists, architects, construction professionals and policy makers have all tried to solve this challenge in their individual way without much success. The course takes a multi diciplinary approach to affordable housing. It looks at the entire value chain for housing from finance, project development, government regulation, design and construction to marketing. It is impossible to tackle the challenge of affordable housing by looking at one aspect in isolation.
The course is structured as a mix of lectures and hackathons. The course will introduce students to the concepts of finance, role of housing in the urban context, political economy of affordable housing and market based solutions.
