This course will engage with themes and contradictions within the larger understanding of Open Space. Architecture has the ability to inform us (on multiple registers) how spaces are created, owned and accessed within the urban/semi-urban. In this engagement, participants will be introduced to a series of debates surrounding themes dealing with our fundamental right to land and landscape, nation and citizenship via architecture of open spaces. Participants will be encouraged to investigate the impact of architectural thinking and identify new forms of expression within urban open spaces. The final output of the course will include an individual physical artifact. This course is hosted in collaboration with Gujral Foundation.
