Earth retaining (ER) structures form the essence of any form of construction activity. They are the structures used to hold back earth and maintain a difference in elevation. They have their application in almost all fields of civil engineering like transportation, water resource, geotechnical & structural engineering. These structures are conventionally built in concrete, brick and stone but over a period of time their materials and applications have evolved.
The aim of the the course is to bridge the gap between theory and practice of designing such structures in depth. The knowledge about earth retaining structures is always dealt with theories , hence the idea is to give practical insight and hands on designing for these structures with real case study.
