Nature Patterns

Nature Patterns is a visual exercise in abstract geometric composition with reference to nature. Using geometry as a generative visual language, we interpret what we see as essential character in a plant / nature. The Nature Patterns class has 2 parts: (1) The geometric abstraction method as a step by step process to develop a flat drawing, and (2) The evolution of the abstraction into a 3D final piece using distinct layers. The flat phase of the design will initiate the class and the 3D phase will conclude with an exhibition of the final pieces. The process: Observation of essential characteristics in plants/nature leads to the generation of geometric pattern, visual rhythm and repetition, proportion, dynamic symmetry, layers, textures, frame, and color balance.
